Why Ultrasound?

There exists a need to evaluate mechanical devices and/or systems for the purpose of determining the onset of their failure. When carried to a further degree, through the use of highly calibrated listening devices and specific purpose computer software, it is theoretically possible to predict the approximate, if not exact, time of failure.

As a practical matter, the failure of a component within a larger device does not only contain itself to the component but can also cause devastation to the entire mechanism. Thus, the need to predict such failure is of even more importance.
